Brittany is big: the drive from Saint-Malo to the Pointe du Raz alone takes around three and a half hours. This plan covers the north coast, the far west and the south in a week with a hire car, using three bases.
Day 1: Saint-Malo
Arrive by ferry, or by TGV from Paris and pick up a car in Rennes or Saint-Malo. Walk the ramparts at sunset and, if the tide's out, cross to Fort National.
Day 2: Mont-Saint-Michel and Cancale
Leave early for Mont-Saint-Michel (about 1 hour) to beat the crowds. On the way back, eat oysters at Cancale and walk to the Pointe du Grouin.
Day 3: Dinan and Cap Fréhel
Spend the morning in medieval Dinan, then drive along the Emerald Coast to Cap Fréhel and Fort La Latte. Continue to the Pink Granite Coast for two nights.
Day 4: Ploumanac'h
Walk the Sentier des Douaniers in the morning light, then take a boat to the Sept-Îles or spend the afternoon on the beaches of Trégastel. Alternatively, visit the Île de Bréhat.
Day 5: Into Finistère
Drive west (about 2 h 30) via the Monts d'Arrée and Huelgoat to the Crozon Peninsula for Pointe de Pen-Hir at sunset. Base yourself near Quimper or Locronan.
Day 6: Pointe du Raz and Quimper
Visit Locronan and the Pointe du Raz, then spend the evening in Quimper's old town.
Day 7: Concarneau to Carnac
Stop at the Ville Close and Pont-Aven, then continue to the Carnac stones (about 1 h 30). From here it's about 1 h 30 to Rennes or Nantes for trains and flights home.
